Christmas Bark With A Bite

Hi there, thought I'd stop by, albeit late in the day, and share another little goody with you all, that I made the other day.  And ate too much of.  And didn't feel so hot afterward, wherein, the "bite" comes from.  Cause it's just that good!

Ingredients

 

12 ounces semi sweet chocolate, broken into pieces
 2 tsp. canola oil, divided

12 ounces white chocolate

10 candy canes, broken into pieces (dont crush the candy canes too much or you will end up with powder instead of nice pieces. 

 

Directions

 

Lightly grease a 9x9 inch pan and line with waxed paper, smoothing out wrinkles; set aside.

Place semi sweet chocolate and 1 tsp.of the canola oil in glass dish and melt in the microwave.  Pour the melted chocolate into the prepared pan, and spread evenly over the bottom of the pan.

 

Sprinkle 1/3 of the crushed candy canes over the chocolate layer.  Refrigerate about 5 minutes while you melt the white chocolate, also in the microwave but only half power for about 3 minutes.  Do not allow the first layer of chocolate to set before adding the white layer - this is what causes them to separate!

 

Pour the white chocolate over the top and then add the rest of the candy canes.  Be careful when spreading the white chocolate or you will end up swirling the 2 chocolates together a bit and not have the pretty, all white top.  After all, if it is in my house, it has to be pretty!   Refrigerate for 2+ hours.

 

Turn upside down onto a towel, peel off the foil, and break into pieces.  By breaking it from the back, you will not break as many of the candy canes on top. 

 

Store in refrigerator.
